Preparation is OpenClasses Begin September 24, 2023.
Children seeking to receive The Sacrament of Reconciliation will begin their preparation usually in the 2nd grade, and who have completed one year of religious education classes.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation helps to teach and unite children to God's love, mercy and healing as they learn about God's commandments, the importance of forgiveness and living virtuously.
"Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that
the kingdom of heaven belongs" (Matthew 19:14).
Children seeking to receive The Sacrament of Eucharist will begin their preparation usually in the 2nd or 3rd grade, and who are enrolled in at least his/her 2nd year of Faith Formation.
The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Christ, truly, really, and substantially contained and offered under the species of bread and wine. In his Eucharistic presence, Christ "remains mysteriously in our midst as the one who loved us and gave himself up for us" (CCC1380).
"Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, 'Take and eat; this is my body'" (Matthew 26:26).
Reception of The Sacrament of Confirmation usually occurs in grades 9, 10, or 11 for students who have received both the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Communion.
Baptism, the Eucharist, and The Sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation" and Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace whereby those baptized are bound more perfectly to the Church and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were sealed for the day of redemption"
(Ephesians 4:30). -
