At each Mass, we come together as children of God; there is no greater unity than when we come forward to receive Jesus within us. Jesus wants each of us to have a closer and deeper relationship with him and in receiving the body and blood of Christ this happens. Especially, when we serve as Eucharistic Ministers, we recognize with each person that comes forward that Jesus wants us to have a closer and deeper relationship with each other.
It is truly a gift to be close to God and give God to others. In such a simple act of giving the body and blood of Christ, there is a profound awareness of the love and peace that comes from God alone.
So too as ministers, we are keenly aware of the presence of Jesus. As each person steps forward and says "Amen" to the body and blood of Christ, we know - "where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst." (Matthew 18: 20)
Being part of this ministry is an awesome opportunity to strengthen one's connection to God and to our parish community. As Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, our faith lives are truly enriched when we are called forward to serve.
Are you aware of a friend, family member, or parishioner who is homebound due to a recent illness or hospitalization? Are they frail and unable to attend Mass? Are they in a nursing home, assisted living, hospital or rehab facility?
We have volunteers who are willing and able to bring a connection to our parish, as well as support, comfort, socialization, as well as a spiritual presence. When requested they will also offer the Eucharist.
Call the Parish Office at 508-765-3701 during normal business hours.
God speaks to us in many ways. In the Scriptures, God leads us along the path to salvation. In the Liturgy of the Word. the church feeds the people of God from the table of his Word.
Through our baptism, we too are called to "bring glad tidings to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives," and most especially to "rejoice heartily in the Lord" for we are clothed "with a robe of salvation." As lectors, we do this by the way we proclaim the Word of God.
No matter where, no matter when, the more we reflect on how truly blessed we are and how wonderful is the message that we carry, the more room we have inside of us for true joy. This ministry allows us to talk to people about Jesus and God while at the same time learning more about the Scriptures.
Resources are provided to help us understand and present the feeling, purpose, and intention of the biblical author. It includes assistance with difficult names and meanings and how to use the microphone.
If you have any interest in becoming a lector, speak with Father Ken, Father Wilmar, or Deacon Juan about it. They will provide you with proper instruction and preparation so you can be part of this beautiful and hope-filled ministry
.
Prayerfully consider joining, we need more lectors to spread the Word of God.
If you have ever been curious about learning more about this ministry or had an inkling that you would want to be a Eucharistic Minister, please speak with Father Ken, Father Wilmar or Deacon Juan about it. They will help you discern if God is calling you to serve in this beautiful faith affirming ministry.
The treasures of the bible are to be opened up more lavishly, so that richer fare may be provided for the faithful at the table of God's word. In this way a more representative portion of the holy scriptures will be read to the people in the course of a prescribed number of years.
