Architecture has always been an expression of life, the medium by which people have recorded their emotions, aspirations and their beliefs. Like the centuries old monuments of the pyramids to the great cathedrals of Europe from the medieval era, Saint Mary Church stands as a monument to the faith and accomplishments of the Catholic people of Southbridge. It stands on the site of the original Catholic Church in Southbridge and so contemporary Catholics inherit the proud legacy of these early Catholic pioneers who for their appreciation of their religious faith, love and beauty have left us Saint Mary Church.
Saint Mary Church belongs to Saint John Paul II Parish in Southbridge. Saint John Paul II Parish was created on July 1, 2011, by the Most Reverend Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester from the pre-existing Catholic parishes of Southbridge. It is one of three churches that the parish uses for its divine worship. This brochure is to help orient a visitor to this magnificent house of worship and invite you to join us for worship.
