The first Catholic school for our town was begun in 1871 by the Father LeBreton and run by Mrs. Lois (Elise) Kasky. In 1881, the Sisters of Saint Anne came to staff Brochu Academy of Notre Dame Parish, but left at the end of the school year in 1890. In 1887, Fr. John Drennan, the pastor of Saint Mary Parish invited the Sisters of Saint Joseph to come to teach the youth of Saint Mary Parish. Converting the original parish church of Saint Peter into a school, it served the needs of the parish until it was lost by fire in 1999. In 1889, Father Georges Brochu invited the Sisters of the Assumption to come from Canada to teach. Establishing their first of many missions in the US, they opened Notre Dame School the following year. Later they began a mission at Sacred Heart Parish as Sainte Jeanne d’Arc School. Each of these schools survives in Trinity Catholic Academy.
Today, Trinity Catholic Academy limits its class size to twenty-five students for grades Kindergarten through Grade 8. Our faculty is comprised of certified teachers and almost all have a Master’s degree to qualify them for the instruction that they provide. Our school attends Mass on a weekly basis and provides monthly liturgies, including a Mass to celebrate the Sacrament of Anointing with parishioners and guests from the local nursing home to a blessing of animals, to an all day retreat that allows our students to experience the difference that our faith and its beliefs can make in daily life. Our parents and faculty appreciate that our teaching is not indifferent morally but grounded in the Gospels and our faith as Catholics that we can practice freely and proudly.
Our school also has music, drama, and arts programs. All students participate in a physical education program with a licensed instructor. We have a fully equipped computer lab. After school sports include basketball, cheering, soccer, and a running club for boys and girls in grade four and up. We also have an after school program that allows students to study and to have fun after school hours for those parents that work, the last pickup needs to be before 5:30 PM.
This Board represents our larger community and assists our Pastor and Principal in establishing policy and securing the financial stability of our school for the future. Members on the Board serve 3 year terms with a limit of two consecutive terms.
The Endowment Fund Board meets annually in February and oversees the Endowment Fund and allocates funds to the school, according to its needs. For more information, contact our school office during school hours: 508-765-5991
